How to keep your glasses from fogging up

Posted: February 1st, 2007 | Author: dmisener | Filed under: glasses, winter |

So it’s the first day of February, one of the coldest months of the year. To mark the occasion, here’s a tip for keeping your eyeglasses from fogging up when coming indoors from the cold:

Walk in backwards.

I have no idea why this works, but it does. It’s a trick I learned when I was a kid delivering newspapers in Lower Sackville. My glasses would always fog up when I entered people’s homes on cold nights to collect paper money. One night, one of my bespectacled customers suggested I try it.

People have been looking at me funny ever since.

They’re still fogging as you walk in backwards. It’s just staring out into the snowstorm you can’t tell?

Are you kidding? Does that seriously work?

I’m always afraid on tripping on something and falling … and giving myself a concussion. Which might give me more to worry about than a pair of fogged glasses :S .

It totally works. For me, anyway.

I just got glasses today, and they have fogged up/gotten dirty quite a few times. You know what I do? I run them under cold water, then spread BABY SHAMPOO on them, and finally rinse and dry. IT WORKS!!

The reason that works is becouse of a draft you create when walking backwards which warms the glasses evenly, thus preventing the fog reaction.
ps. It works better the faster you walk in backwards.

I tried it. I tried it at Wal-Mart. I tried it on a busy day at Wal-Mart.

It didn’t work the first time, and after being asked to leave it didn’t work after the sixth time.

I going to try a clear plastic bag next, making certain that it is not tied to securely around my neck.. wouldn’t want to Kick It even in the name of science eh?
